The Universe can be an unpredictable and dangerous place, which was exactly what Ph'shr Ryyce was counting on when he resigned from his position as a T.U.5.C.C. Security Chief to start his own private enterprise called The Shadow Circle. Nicknamed the "Adventure Squadron", this team is called in to assist with rescue missions, item acquisitions and retrievals, security details, or other jobs where a diverse set of skills and a commitment to discretion is required. While many would assume that The Shadow Circle are mercenaries willing to work for whomever will pay their fees, the reality is that Ph'shr is very selective in the assignments he accepts. There are carefully calculated reasons behind the clients he works with and the alliances he has begun to forge, for in a universe that is unpredictable and dangerous, who you know and who owes you favors can be the difference between life and death.

Sskur'ge is a brutish thug whose only marketable skills are his incredible strength and nearly impenetrable scaley hide. This Duoderm tracker has made a career out of hunting down fugitives and returning them bruised and battered to those who have placed a price on their heads.Although not a full-time employee of the Traders Union of the Five Circles of Cosmerrium, Sskur'ge gets most of his work from that organization. This includes a recent bounty on a Bleeder's Guild spy who uncovered something he shouldn't have. Chasing the spy to a nearby transportation Outpost, Sskur'ge waits for his quarry to exit the safety of that facility. One swipe of his massive tail and the chase will be over, and he will be on his way to collect his fee for another capture.

Scapebacks can be found across all of Thraxxon, with different variations of this species adapted to survive in the specific parts of the planet where they live. Native to the harsh valleys of Thraxxon, the lowland scapeback is the most aggressive classification of this race. Lowland scapebacks have heavy plates of armor and sharp spines across their body. This armor protects the scapeback while also allowing it to perfectly blend into the landscape ofthe planet as they hibernate to conserve energy, only emerging once they believe a potential meal is nearby.

Natives of Thraxxon, Thraxxians are well adapted to living in the harsh environments of their home planet. Notoriously territorial, Thraxxians maintain a primitive, yet well-structured social community amongst their familial tribes. From the Elders to the hunters, down to the scouts who are sent out to investigate threats to the ommunity, all Thraxxians will exhibit extreme aggression towards anything they do not understand or which they believe to be a disruption to their continued existence.

As a remote planet, Thraxxon is very primitive from a technological standpoint. While the Thraxxians eschew any non-native technology, the Veeblians revere that same tech, treating it with fascination and giddy excitement. Part of a structured, hive-like society with homes built into the vast cliffs that rise from the valleys of Thraxxon, Veeblians adorn thosehomes with the discarded technological curiosities that they find. Most Veeblians view these trinkets as mysterious treasures, but some, like UkHa, have learned how to repair and use some of the itemswhich they have found, making them even more revered by their tribes.

Vellok Speer's official AEXOR3 designation is the pilot of the reclamation vessel known as the Qorgonox. However, to those who travel aboard that ship as part of the "OxKrewe", Vellok is their unofficial leader and nothing less than a father figure to this unconventional family.

Keeping the calf alive, the Veeblians tried to reunite the creature with its kind, only to discover that the herd had been attacked and killed by hunters.Knowing that the calf would not survive on its own, a Veeblian named AhgCha raised the creature, forming an unbreakable bond with the scapeback that exceeded even the natural tendencies of these affable beasts.

Hylor and his partner detected the problem as soon as they entered the Fourth Ring, but unfortunately for the pair of T.U.5.C.C. Empiricists, detection and understanding of the anomaly was not enough to save them from falling victim to it. Their vessel's instruments failed, and they crashed on a planet named Thraxxon.Salvaging much of the T.U.5.C.C.-issued equipment from their ship, including a pair of Hostile Environment Suits and a small arsenal of weaponry and defensive gear, the pair left their damaged vessel and set out into the harsh terrain of Thraxxon."

With the chance of a rescue from the Traders Union slim at best, the Empiricists knew that they would need to find a way to survive in this harsh environment they found themselves in.Following a homing beacon transmitting on an old Traders Union frequency, the Empiricists came upon a discovery they did not expect - a settlement that they would eventually discover was named Scapehaven.Jobara and her partner approached the settlement, but they were immediately besieged on all sides as raiders from the settlement who had been in hiding attacked. Bringing up their heavy shields and wielding their electro-batons, the pair of Empiricists fought off nearly a dozen attackers. This display proved their worth and earned them an invitation to join the settlement of Scapehaven to add to its strength.With their T.U.5.C.C. training and equipment, the Empiricists were assigned under Kurnn Ray as two of Scapehaven's Rovers - teams who scour the wastes of Thraxxon looking for resources and taking what they need to survive."

He knows that his strength will be tested if they are able to make it to the settlement his abductors have called Scapehaven. There are places where the walls between this world and the next grow thin, allowing spirts from beyond to roam unbidden between the two worlds. One such place is a small village on the East bank of the Hudson River in New York. Originally named North Tarrytown, this haunted glen is more commonly known as Sleepy Hollow.Rumored to have been bewitched long ago, stories of strange happenings and distant voices on the air have long been told in Sleepy Hollow. The most dominant spirt that haunts this enchanted region is that of a headless, cloaked rider atop a great black steed - the Headless Horseman. Said to be the restless ghost of a Hessian Trooper who lost his head to a cannonball during some long-forgotten battle of the Revolutionary War, the Headless Horseman rides forth on the blackest of nights, desperately searching for his lost head. Any who are unfortunate enough to meet the Galloping Hessian on his ride are never to be seen again, the only proof of their encounter with the dread apparition being the shattered remains of the jack-o-lantern he often uses in place of his lost head.

The title page of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" reads "A Ghost Story of Christmas". While the tradition of telling "scary ghost stories" for the holidays did not originate with Mr. Dickens, his tale of holiday hauntings and redemption is certainly the most well-known Christmas ghost story. It is filled with characters that have become iconic symbols of the season, including the three Ghosts of Christmas, the sickly Tiny Tim and the Cratchitt family, and the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who is redeemed through the lessons taught by the visit of those aforementioned three spirits. Yet, there is another spirit found in the pages of this story, one who is perhaps the most visually recognizable of all of Dickens' ghosts. We are of course referring to the man who, in life, was Scrooge's partner. The latest character to haunt the halls of Figura Obscura is none other than the Ghost of Jacob Marley.Don´t glow in the dark.

In death all are equal, and none can escape its touch.First published in 1842, Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" is a Gothic fiction that relates the tale of a horrible plague and a group of wealthy nobles' doomed attempt to escape from this dreaded disease. Of course, trying to hide from death is impossible, and the end is never in question, for as the final line of the short story states - And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.
